China Airlines Revises 2005 Financial Forecast
/noticias.info/ August 17, 2005, Taipei, Taiwan ¡V China Airlines today announced its revision of financial forecast. The annual operating revenue was raised to NT$ 111.69 billion, an increase of 5.8% compared to the original forecast. However, due to the hike of international fuel price, the pre-tax profit forecast was reduced from original NT$ 4.4 billion to NT$ 3.08 billion.
Compared to the same period last year, the first 6 months of China Airlines passenger and cargo revenue increased by 17% and 12%, respectively. The passenger revenue of July hit the record high of NT$ 10 billion. The ever-increasing fuel price has put a great pressure on the operation costs of airline industry. To tackle the challenge of high fuel price, China Airlines reinforced its cost control actions. However, the record-breaking fuel price has forced CAL to lower its financial forecast, despite the revenue growth. The keen competition and local regulations prevent airline companies to fully reflect the incremental portion of fuel price via fuel surcharge. notas_de_prensa_archivo
