PALESTINE: Sha'th Discusses with Russian Envoy the Israeli Pullout from Gaza Strip

GAZA, Palestine, August 21, 2005 (IPC)--The vice Prime Minister and Information Minister, Dr. Nabil Sha'th met today with the Russian Foreign Ministry's envoy on the Middle East peace process, Alexander Kalugin.
Both have discussed the updates on the Israeli pullout from Gaza Strip and northern West Bank.
In a press briefing in his office in Gaza Sha'th stressed on the need to make more efforts for implementing the USA sponsored road map peace plan, and the Israeli withdrawal not to be limited to the Gaza Strip but also the West bank.
He asserted the role of the Russia to push for achieving such a demand.
Sha'th referred that the meeting with the Russian envoy mainly taught on the next day after the Israeli withdrawal and the plan of the Quartet in particular the role of Russia to prop-up and development and the poverty-stricken economy of Gaza Strip.
"The Israeli withdrawal is a momentous opportunity and should be well advantaged to resume the peace process in the Middle East in particular between the Israelis and the Palestinians on the basis of the road map, "Sha'th said.
On its part, Mr. Kalugin, said that there are as many as troubles face the quartet currently, pointing out that all the members of the Quartet are looking very carefully at moving the process on the right track after the completion of the Israeli pullout.
