Nervous Monaco
On Tuesday, eight of the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round ties come to their conclusion, with holders Liverpool FC hoping to make the most of a 3-1 lead against PFC CSKA Sofia. In contrast, AS Monaco FC and Sporting Clube de Portugal need to overturn 1-0 deficits against Real Betis Balompié and Udinese Calcio respectively.

Intertoto deciders
There will be match reports on all eight matches, as well as the three UEFA Intertoto Cup finals with Hamburger SV, Valencia CF, CFR Cluj, RC Lens, RC Deportivo La Coruña and Olympique de Marseille all hoping to claim the three UEFA Cup places on offer.

Basel dream
Champions League qualifying concludes on Wednesday with eight more ties. Former winners Manchester United FC and FC Internazionale Milano both lead their ties, while Werder Bremen trail FC Basel 1893 2-1 and Everton FC go to fellow debutants Villarreal CF 2-1 down.

Champions League draw

Thursday afternoon also sees 21 of Europe's finest players vying for honours at the UEFA Club Football Awards. The awards are divided into four categories - Best Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder and Striker - in addition to the prestigious Most Valuable Player prize. Gianluigi Buffon, the Juventus FC goalkeeper, is the only nominee to have previously scooped the honour.

UEFA Cup action
The focus immediately switches to the UEFA Cup, with all 31 second qualifying round ties completed on Thursday evening.
