UEFA SUPER CUP: Reds still hungry for silver

Liverpool FC midfielder Luis García insists tonight's UEFA Super Cup game is a big deal for the European champions.

'We want to win it'
"We want to win it as badly as all the trophies Liverpool are trying for this season," he told uefa.com. "We can't take it easy on anyone because it's important to win titles. This Liverpool side wants to make its mark on the history of European football and this is only the second year of this new era for the club. The Super Cup is an official UEFA trophy and a prestigious prize, so all of us have to give our best shot to win it."

CSKA struggling
Although their final opponents PFC CSKA Moskva have been weakened by striker Ivica Oliæ's six-month lay-off with damaged ligaments, Luis García was adamant that Liverpool would not be underestimating the first Russian team to contest the showpiece.

Russian technique
"CSKA are being taken seriously by us and although I don't have details I think they are a strong, very physical team," he said. "I also know that they have some individual players with very good technique. Russian players are very good technically.

Missing medal
"I can't pretend we have prepared for the Super Cup with as much detail as the Champions League final, but Rafael Benítez is not taking this match lightly," he continued. "Every trophy and every match is important to our manager and the same applies to the players. I really want to play in Monaco. It would be great to win a Super Cup winners' medal.
