AC MILAN: ANCELOTTI PRESS CONFERENCE
/noticias.info/ Carlo Ancelotti held a press conference before the team left for Ascoli for Milan’s first game of the 2005-06 season. The coach said: 'We don’t know Ascoli that well, but I think they will maintain more or less the same system as last season. They could be a surprise in the early days but it’s important that we play with the right spirit and concentration. We want to start with a psychological lift which we didn’t do last season.' He then talked about the line-up: 'Gilardino will play from the start, he has recovered from the dental operation and is ready. My wish is that he will make his contribution to have another season at the highest level. It will be a four-man defence while there are some doubts about the midfield. It’s difficult to leave out players like Ambrosini, Serginho and Rui Costa who have played so well in pre-season, so I have to reflect on that a bit more.'
However, captain Paolo Maldini will not be making the trip and Ancelotti said: 'Paolo has trained these days but we’ll take advantage of the international break so that he can return fully fit. He’s having treatment, the knee has gone through a lot of games but can play a lot more.’ The coach then spoke about the new attack force: 'Gilardino and Vieri give us new solutions that we were missing. Sheva prefers to lead the attack but that’s not his true role. Kaka, like all his team-mates, is well prepared and having not had any official games we are all very fit.'
Ancelotti also has a clear idea on the title rivals: 'It looks like a three-horse race although Fiorentina and Roma could be a surprise. Palermo and Sampdoria are up to the level they were last year as are Udinese who have had a good pre-season.'
To finish, there was an opportunity to respond to the positive news coming out of the Via Turati headquarters: 'I am pleased that Galliani has said that I don’t have to win to remain even if my aim is always to win. It’s not every day you find a club that allows you to do your job even if you don’t win.' notas_de_prensa_archivo
