INTER: FACCHETTI: "A TRIAL OF INTENTIONS"
/noticias.info/ MILAN - "It's a trial of intentions," said Inter president Giacinto Facchetti after the Lega Calcio Disciplinary Commission rejected FC Internazionale's appeal against the three-match ban imposed on Nerazzurri defender Walter Samuel for the incident which occurred during last Saturday's Italian Super Cup match against Juventus.
"The episode was not evaluated objectively, especially when it was judged for the second time. The television images were interpreted, while the technical elements of the images supplied by the match cameraman that showed a distance of at least three metres between the two players, were considered irrelevant. And to think that in the dressing room Nedved said nothing had happened..."
Facchetti continued: "More emphasis is given to Samuel's actions during a very tight match which went to extra time, rather than a reconstruction of what was seen from the images of the whole pitch. The commentator's comments are almost used as a measure, as are the actions of one of Samuel's teammates, identified as Pizarro, who takes him by the arm, maybe just to say something to him, which is normal seeing as we were at a crucial point in the match. So even the intentions of Samuel's teammate are interpreted. So even more than before we are given the impression of an unfair disqualification. For this reason we will appeal to the CAF (Federal Commission of Appeal)." notas_de_prensa_archivo
