New US maintenance contract for Finnair Technical Services

/noticias.info/ Finnair Technical Services and World Airways have signed a maintenance agreement covering the airline's DC-10 and MD-11 aircraft airframe maintenance. The companies have earlier had an existing contract for line maintenance visits. This agreement enables Finnair Technical Services to be a potential maintenance services provider in the future maintenance visits for World Airways. The value of the already accomplished and planned maintenance visits is over one million euros.

Finnair Technical Services is currently performing airframe maintenance and painting for one of the airlines MD-11s over a three week period. Earlier this summer a World Airways DC-10 spent two weeks in Finland undergoing a similar maintenance visit.

"The contract is an indication of our strong competitive standing in the MD-11/DC-10 maintenance market and continuation of Finnair Technical Services' expanded MD-11/DC-10 customer work," says Account Manager Manu Skyttä from Finnair Technical Service.

Earlier this summer Finnair Technical Services reported of Boeing MD-11 and DC-10 maintenance contracts with American Gemini Air Cargo and Dutch Martinair worth several million euros. Finnair Technical Services also signed a maintenance agreement earlier this month worth over a million euros on the overhaul of the landing gear Air New Zealand's seven ATR72-500s.

World Airways, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of World Air Holdings is a charter and international passenger and cargo airline founded in 1948 with its home base in Peach Tree City, Georgia. It has a fleet of 14 Boeing MD-11 aircraft and three DC-10 aircraft. The company has almost 1400 employees and its largest customer is the US Air force.
