FORMULA 1 - RENAULT: Magic moments: Week of 14 September
This week has not traditionally been a busy one for Formula 1, but Renault has plenty to celebrate.
/noticias.info/ 13 September 1980, at Monza, René Arnoux took pole position in his Renault Turbo, giving him the tenth front row start of his career. His team-mate Jean-Pierre Jabouille was second fastest. The following year, Renault took more success in Italy with Alain Prost winning at the Autodromo. On 13 September 1992, Riccardo Patrese took his Williams Renault to P5 in Italy. Team-mate Nigel Mansell had started from pole. In 1998, and still at Monza, Jacques Villeneuve took second on the grid in his Williams-Mécachrome, a Renault-derived powerplant.
14 September 1985, at Spa, Ayrton Senna took his Lotus-Renault to P2 in qualifying. Eighteen years later, at the same circuit, Fernando Alonso finished 8th in his R23.
15 September 1985, in Belgium, Ayrton Senna took victory in his Lotus Renault. Jarno Trulli finished the Italian Grand Prix in P4 in 2002, while Jenson Button took P5. Both were driving a Renault R202.
17 September 1960, Damon Hill was born. The Briton will turn 45 this week. He took 20 pole positions and 22 wins in his career. Happy birthday Damon!
