UEFA CUP: Finalists on collision course

/noticias.info/ If UEFA Women's Cup holders 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam and 2004/05 runners-up Djurgården/Alvsjö both win their quarter-finals they will meet in the last four - that is the equation after the lineup for the knockout stage was decided today with Icelandic and Czech clubs involved for the first time.

Trio complete lineup
The five teams already assured of their quarter-final places after two second qualifying round games, Potsdam, Djurgården/Alvsjö, Arsenal LFC, Brøndby IF and Montpellier HSC, were joined by AC Sparta Praha, Valur Reykjavík and inaugural winners 1. FFC Frankfurt after each confirmed their progress with decisive victories. And the last-eight lineup contains some fascinating ties, all to be played in October.

Frankfurt face Arsenal
Perhaps the pick of the two-legged games, is Frankfurt's meeting with Arsenal, who are handed a tough draw after being pipped to first place in Group B4 by Brøndby. Arsenal, like all the second-placed teams, will be at home first and will meet German opposition for the first time in their four campaigns, which have so far brought two semi-finals. Frankfurt also reached the 2004 final, and the only team ever to defeat them in this tournament - Umeå IK - are absent this season.

Possible final rematch
The winners of that tie will come up against either Brøndby or French side Montpellier HSC, who held Potsdam in their final group game. Potsdam themselves take on Valur Reykjavík, with the winners to meet either AC Sparta Praha, who drew with Frankfurt in the second qualifying round, or Potsdam's 2005 final victims Djurgården/Alvsjö of Sweden, who achieved the best overall record in the previous stage. The semi-finals take place in November, with the final played over two legs next spring.
