FIBA: CRO - Grgat fills gap for Unicaja

/noticias.info/ MALAGA (Liga ACB) - Unicaja Malaga have signed former Croatian international Ivan Grgat on a one-month deal.

The 2.10m tall centre will temporarily replace injured compatriot Sandro Nicevic at the Spanish club.

Unicaja have been forced to make a late signing with Russian centre Stanislav Makshantsev also out injured.

Grgat has plenty of experience having won three Croatian championships with KK Cibona Zagreb and played in France, Poland and Lithuania, but this will be his first stint in the Liga ACB.

The 31-year-old, who played at the 1997 EuroBasket with Croatia, spent last season with Greek side PAOK.

"Considering the emergency situation we find ourselves in, if Grgat comes in good form he will be able to help us," said Unicaja coach Sergio Scariolo.

"He has plenty of experience, he knows how to play as a five, whether it's in attack or defence."
