FIBA: UKR - BC Kyiv ready for season

/noticias.info/ KYIV (Eurocup) - Ukrainian champions BC Kyiv completed their preparations for the 2005/2006 season with a third place finish at the Gazeta Pomorska Cup in Poland at the weekend.

Kyiv beat home side Anwil Wloclawek but slipped to defeat against Russian teams Dynamo Moscow and BC Khimki.

Kyiv, who finished as FIBA Europe League runners-up in 2005, dropped their opening contest to Dynamo, 59-71. They then recovered to beat Anwil 79-64, but fell on the last day of competition to fellow EuroCup side Khimki, 67-83.

Despite the 2 defeats, one consolation for Renato Pasquali's side was the form of newly appointed club captain LaMarr Greer who was selected tournament MVP.

Kyiv now return home where they open the Ukrainian Superleague on Wednesday against league newcomers SC Mariupol.

They begin their EuroCup campaign on 25th October at home to Turkish side Pinar Karsiyaka.
