FIBA: MEX - Liga Nacional play-off spots wrapped up
/noticias.info/ XALAPA (LNBP) - With two games still to play, the make-up of the play-offs for the Mexican Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional has already been decided.
Lobos from Saltillo, Santos Reales, Fuerza Regia, Soles, Lobos Grises and the three teams called Correcaminos (from Reynosa, Victoria and Matamoros) will all be in the next stage as part of the North Zone.
In the South Zone, Halcones from Xalapa are the team of the tournament, having recorded 31 triumphs and only seven defeats.
Halcones from Veracruz are second, followed by Lechugueros, Tecos from Guadalajara, La Ola, Gambusinos, Panteras and Barreteros.
Halcones from Xalapa lost 97-94 to Gambusinos from Fresnillo on Friday, although they had the match's top-scorer in Cleotis Brown, who netted 24 points for Angel Gonzalez's team.
On Saturday, they recovered their composure in beating Barreteros from Zacatecas 103-92 thanks in part to 28 points from Victor Mariscal Mata.
Lobos from Saltillo, the other team at the top of their division, saw Lorico Duncan in superb form this weekend.
Duncan was instrumental for his side as they beat Correcaminos from Victoria 93-84 and he then went on to top-score with 38 points in the 126-109 victory over Santos Reales.
In their respective zones, Halcones from Xalapa and Lobos are pursued by Halcones from Veracruz and Santos Reales, but neither of them has a chance of clinching top spot in the standings.
The Veracruz-based side beat Barreteros 90-75 on Friday and lost 83-65 at Gambusinos on Sunday, while Santos Reales lost 110-98 at Fuerza Regia before being beaten by Lobos.
In other results from the North Zone, Algodoneros beat Lobos Grises 97-90 and Soles from Mexicali beat Correcaminos from Reynosa 83-71.
Finally in the South Zone, Cometas beat Tecos 103-95 and Panteras beat Lechugueros 85-80. notas_de_prensa_archivo
