Siemens to supply additional terminal management systems to Saudi Aramco

/noticias.info/ The Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S) Group has been contracted by the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) to equip fourteen distribution terminals and associated tank farms with the latest version 1.4 of the “Sisog TMS” terminal management system. The new terminal management systems must be up and running from early 2007.

The state-owned Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco), with headquarters in Dhahran, is the world's leading oil producer and the largest exporter of crude oil and natural gas liquids. The company also has the world's largest oil reserves.

The new Sisog TMS systems will be installed in fourteen distribution terminals including their associated tank farms throughout Saudi Arabia. All TMS installations are linked to Saudi Aramco's SAP system. In eight plants Sisog TMS will replace other suppliers’ systems while six further terminals will be upgraded from version 1.3 to version 1.4. In two of the terminals, Siemens will integrate existing pipeline instrumentation and control into the TMS. The project also includes modernization of safety systems which will involve replacing existing relay-based technology with PLC-based “Quadlog” ESD systems. The demand for new installations and upgrades has arisen from changing requirements in the Saudi Aramco distribution terminals. Some terminals will be required to handle an additional type of gasoline while the distribution capacity of others is to be increased.

Specially developed for liquid-fuel tank farms and distribution terminals, Sisog TMS enables the comprehensive management of fuels in distribution terminals and in tank farms at refineries and airports. Siemens' all-round management and automation system controls and monitors all incoming and outgoing flows of materials to and from pipelines, ships, railways and road tankers. Sisog TMS also includes all the required automation and safety systems, such as emergency shutdown, fire and gas alarm functions.
