SIEMENS: Transparent analysis of the AS-Interface network

/noticias.info/ Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) has modified its AS-Interface analyzer and added new functions. Code tables are now evaluated by safety-related AS-i slaves. Furthermore, the respective status of the slave input is indicated. Using the trace function, status changes can be logged in order to analyze the switch response of the associated safety monitor.

In addition to standard binary representation of inputs and outputs, data of analog slaves are now also decoded and displayed as decimal values. An additional new feature is the display of group faults, which facilitates the evaluation of the AS-i network stability. In this case, missing message frames are not only added up, they are also grouped based on the number of consecutive frame errors. A cumulation of group faults can negatively affect the proper operation of a plant, while it might be permissible to ignore individual faults. The analyzer has a buffer memory and can thus monitor an AS-i network without connection to the PC for up to 14 days. The LEDs on the analyzer indicate if and which categories of disturbance were detected. The new measurement wizard permits automated quality measurements, which are printed out as measurement records. Measuring data can be stored in a file for subsequent offline analysis. The complete operator interface was modified, allowing the user to utilize the analyzer functions quickly for quality testing and service.
