INTER: RECOBA ON URUGUAY DEFEAT
/noticias.info/ APPIANO GENTILE - A 24-hour trip round the world from Sydney to Milan via Malaysia and Austria wasn't enough to forget about a disappointment that Alvaro Recoba describes as "deep, very deep, both for me and all the Uruguayan people." More time is needed to heal the wound, but El Chino found the words to comment on what happened to him and his Uruguayan national team.
"We made many mistakes, so we're to blame," Recoba said to Inter.it. "We know we did everything we could, but Australia qualified due to a series of circumstances. With hindsight, you can say we should and could have killed off the first match in Montevideo to play more calmly in Australia and administer both the result and the tiredness, but it's useless to add anything else now, there's no need for too many words. Uruguay's hope and objective now must be to cancel out this great disappointment as quickly as possible, and I realise that it won't be easy."
After landing at Milan's Malpensa airport this morning Recoba made immediately for Angelo Moratti Sports Centre, where the Uruguay forward did a brief aerobic session. notas_de_prensa_archivo
