FIBA: RSA - Hugayet, Panda Azizia stun opponents in EPBL-Best Group Tourney
/noticias.info/ DAMMAM - Al Hugayet and Al Azizia Panda are showing no signs of stuttering in their respective Division after eking out first convincing win in the ongoing Eastern Province Basketball League Third Conference at the Al-Ettifaq Sports Club.
Led by Joel Timbang with 27 points, Al Hugayet drew premium performances from Jayson Matiam, Erwin Solomon, Dante Alipin and Michael So right from the start cruising to an easy 85-72 victory over Pampanga Dragons in Division II open category.
Pampanga Dragons started a full-court press in the third quarter and closed in at 64-60 when Willy Concepcion, Randy Sotto and James Bayangos hit their shots from close range to end the period. With no help from their outside shooters, the Dragons' fiery run went puffed in the final canto as they fail to match Al Hugayet's searing wind up.
Matiam added 13 while Solomon and Alipin churned in 10 points apiece.
Concepcion led the Dragons with 14 points even after sitting out the entire first period. Sotto contributed 12 points while Bayangos and Bhoy David added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
In the Inter-Company Division, Al Azizia Panda downed Al Hoty, 93-64, in a lopsided match.
The momentum went well in the early going for Al Hoty but failed to stop Panda's strong rally anchored by ace gunners Rammudin Macasampen and Henry Prago.
While the boys of coach Red Asuncion tried to take advantage the duo's foul troubles towards the end, Al Hoty failed to shake Panda's finishing kick.
Prago top-scored with 20 points while Macasampen finished with 18 points. Frontliners Macloy Osio and Ruel Carpio chipped in 16 and 14 points, respectively.
Al Hoty's Sembrano topped all scorers with 22 points while Gilbert Curva added 10 points. Cage legend Boy Sese finished with a measly 6 points. Edgar Fragela, Vic Calub, Manny Maala and Joel Valderama combined for 23 points.
In other games' results, Rawabi Holding Company defeated Al Bassam Fitness School, 82-61; Skyscrapers whipped Al Haider Electro- Mechanical Co. 97-85; Mazda edged Bader Al Husseini 64-63; while Rizal Pirates downed Phuket Restaurant 93-87.
Meanwhile, Al Bahar Trading Est., sole distributor of Lucky Me! Supreme noodles in the kingdom, gives away fabulous prizes in launching their "3 in 1 Shower Bonanza" where EPBL spectators and lucky patrons will have the chance to win valuable gifts and home appliances weekly.
"Its so easy, just collect empty wrapper or lid covers of any Lucky Me! flavoured noodles, put their name and contact numbers and drop it to any designated drop boxes located in their areas" said by Monde Nissin Philippines representative Jimmy N. Navarro.
