FIBA: PUR - Cariduros from Fajardo on title trail again

/noticias.info/ FAJARDO (Super Liga 25) - Cariduros from Fajardo do not look likely to give up any advantage on their way to retaining the 'Super Liga 25' title in Puerto Rico after another triumph in this week's round of matches.

They lead the "Marcelo Trujillo" Conference with an impressive record of 12 wins from 14 games and this week notched a century of points against Industriales from Barceloneta who lost 100-87.

This triumph helped Cariduros to continue leading the conference with a three-game advantage over second-placed Bravos from Cidra.

On Tuesday Bravos produced a great 95-90 triumph against Reales from Ponce and remain in the runners-up position with a record of nine wins and five defeats.

Humacao-based Grises are mid-table with an 8-6 record after thrashing Pineros from Lajas 93-57.

Pineros are second from bottom in the "Armandito Torres" Conference and this week they played two more games.

On Tuesday night, they clinched their fourth triumph of the season over rock-bottom Brujos from Guayama 94-89, thanks mainly to the 23 points netted by both Franklin Colon and Alomar Huascar.

However, on Wednesday, they suffered an agonising defeat at the hands of of third-placed Reales, who won 82-80. Gerald Lebron netted 16 points and collected 12 rebounds for the winners, while Colon again top-scored with points for the losers.

The "Armandito Torres" Conference is led by Costeros from Guayanilla, who had mixed fortunes this week.

Last Thursday, the conference leaders lost a crucial match 94-84 on their visit to Corazones from Hormigueros.

Corazones, who are second behind Costeros, reduced their lead in the standings with the victory and Costeros are now just one victory ahead of their rivals.

Finally, in a high scoring game on Sunday, Costeros worked bounced back from that defeat to defeat Industriales 108-106 in an intensely tight contest. notas_de_prensa_archivo
