INTER: GEORGE BEST DIES
/noticias.info/ MILAN - George Best has failed to win his last match. Giacinto Facchetti had written to him several days ago: 'Win this one too, George. You always knew how to win'. A private email between two footballing icons, two conquerors, who were poles apart. A king of the night and a prince of fair play. Best has died at the age of 59, leaving behind a life of contradictions. From his bed in London's Cromwell Hospital he told young people not to poison themselves with the alcohol that withered a physique destined for football heaven. But to the world he said, 'I have had everything; women, alcohol and success. I leave in peace'. As if to say, 'don't do what I did, but respect what I did. It was my choice. Don't be sorry for me and don't copy me'. Born in Belfast on 22 May 1946, Best was and remains a unique player. A winner of two First Division titles and a European Cup with Manchester United, 1968 European Footballer of the Year Best won thirty-seven caps for Northern Ireland. An icon of the Swinging Sixties, George Best was known as the 'Fifth Beatle'. notas_de_prensa_archivo
