INTER: MORATTI: "FOREIGNERS, ITALIANS ARE EQUAL"
/noticias.info/ MILAN - (ANSA) - "I'm not hurt by it because I thought it was exploitative and political, and there's nothing real in it." Interviewed by (local TV station) Telelombardia this afternoon on his return to the Saras offices, Massimo Moratti replied to the negative criticism of Inter's entirely foreign starting line-up for the Champions League match against Artmedia Bratislava.
"If foreigners are regarded just as labourers to do the humble jobs that Italians don't want to do, this is one way of looking at it," added Moratti. "If we look at it in terms of equal rights, which in globalisation happens for goods, but which men are still having trouble understanding, I cannot see this difference between Italians and foreigners. I have great respect for them, we are equal, unless someone tells me something different. So I absolutely do not feel this shame. I'm sorry that there are still people who think like this. Each of us is entitled to his own opinions. I have mine and they are these."
Moratti denied that this polemic could in any way annoy the Nerazzurri fans. "We have pretty intelligent fans so something like this has no importance. Actually, it probably gives us honour."
Returning to the football, Moratti commented on Wednesday's performance: " Adriano played very well, I'm very happy; he must continue like this. I also thought the rest of the team played with more brilliance, and let's not forget that playing behind closed doors was a difficult situation. In Messina on Sunday they will have the chance to give another show of their form." Is Antonio Cassano a dream? "I'm really not thinking about this at the moment." notas_de_prensa_archivo
