PGA EUROPEAN TOUR: Allenby shrugs off arm problems to lead the MFS Australian Open
/noticias.info/ Robert Allenby holds a five stroke lead after completing the third round of the MFS Australian Open at Moonah Links but required treatment on his troublesome right arm over the closing stages.
The Victorian – who caught his arm on a toilet door on the 16th hole - eventually carded a round of 72 to finish the day on nine under par 207, five shots ahead of compatriot Paul Sheehan, who signed for a 72 for 212 on a day when only 11 of the field of 60 managed par or better.
Nick O'Hern provided the main European Tour challenge for the title as he climbed into a share of third on three under par 213 after firing a 71 and will begin the final day's play level with Aaron Baddeley and Rod Pampling, who both recorded rounds of 73.
But fellow European Tour Member Adam Scott’s race looks to be run, the 25 year old who started the day in second spot, dropping back to a share of ninth place on level par 216, nine shots adrift of Allenby, after a disappointing third round 77.
