INTER:MANCINI: "ADRIANO OKAY WITH EVERYONE"

Mancini, were you expecting it to be such an uphill start to the season for your strikers?
"Now Adriano has started scoring again, and Cruz is scoring anyway, we're waiting for goals from Martins and Recoba. I was honestly hoping that the strikers would have scored a few more goals from the start of the season until now. But every centre-forward has a moment when he's scoring less. Adriano and Martins were scoring loads at the start of last season. This year they've found it a bit hard."

Do you think the ten-point gap between you and the top of the table has been accumulated because the strikers have been scoring less?
"No, you don't just accumulate a gap for this reason. We didn't do well between the match against Roma and the one against Lazio. We played three matches in which we created chances to win. We didn't manage to, but you can't say it's just the fault of a striker who didn't score."

Are you thinking of continuing with Alvaro Recoba alongside Adriano?
"We will see, because Martins is in better form and Cruz has recovered after the national team matches."

But have you understood who is better in attack with Adriano?
"Perhaps Martins and Recoba adapt more to his style of play, but there have been some matches when he also did very well with Cruz. Cruz knows how to play football, he knows how to move and occupy the right position. Perhaps Martins and Recoba have characteristics that could be better for Adriano. Maybe Recoba moves wide more, plays and leaves more spaces, and Martins is faster."

But how do you make your decisions?
"A decision is made according to what is best for the team, and also considering the condition of individuals. We have two games one after the other, and we will see who plays tomorrow. But it's likely that it will be a choice between Recoba and Martins. But as I said, Cruz can also play well with Adriano, even if they have similar physical qualities and characteristics. If the team plays and builds moves then Cruz and Adriano can also do well."
