INTER: MANCINI: "MATERAZZI HAS GREAT SPIRIT"
/noticias.info/ APPIANO GENTILE - Part three of Roberto Mancini's pre-Messina v Inter news conference:
Mancini, what do you think about the difference in your results in the championship and the Champions League, a competition in which you have almost always won?
" Champions League football is different than championship football. Every team always plays to win. Instead, the Italian championship is different, and also, we started off well in the Champions League and faced our matches with more tranquillity. In the championship we have accumulated a gap between us and the leaders, and we have had fewer chances to approach matches more calmly. Recovering then facing teams that compact so they don't lose creates a few more difficulties that you don't have in the Champions League."
Yesterday Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti said that he agrees with Inter's transfer market policy, but thinks it's always better for the soul of a team in our championship to be Italian. Do you agree with this is or is Inter proof that you can stay at the top levels even without this 'Italian soul'?
"I think that if a team has an Italian soul, like Ancelotti said, it could be an advantage, particularly for the new foreign players that arrive. Those who have been here for years know the job by now and know everything about Italian football. It's as if the foreigners who have been here for many years are Italians. And you need to be lucky to find the right Italian core, like the Milan team that had Baresi, Maldini and Costacurta, and two of those are still around. It's not easy to find players like this, but we have Materazzi who definitely has great spirit." notas_de_prensa_archivo
