FIBA: CHN - Miles' efforts wasted in loss to Guangdong

/noticias.info/ BEIJING (CBA) - Guangdong secured the outright leadership of the CBA South Division despite an incredible 43-point haul from Anthony Miles for rock-bottom Dongguan.

Guangdong, the two-time defending CBA champions, ran out 136-114 winners - their sixth success from seven games - with Yi Jianlian the visitors' top scorer on 28 points.

Dongguan could hardly have asked for more Miles, who also chipped in with 17 rebounds.

His points and rebound tally were the best in the entire CBA during the seventh round of games.

Bayi's 92-85 defeat at Zhejiang allowed Guangdong to move clear at the top, Wu Naiquin bagging 23 points and nine rebounds in Zhejiang's victory, while Li Nan responded for the visitors with 33 points.

Jiangsu stay third but they needed a fourth-quarter comeback to see off second-bottom Shanghai 116-110.

Zhang Cheng scored 31 points for the hosts, but Reggie Okosa had the consolation of being the game's top performer with 34 points, 15 rebounds and six assists.

Jon Smith helped ensure Yunnan remain level with Jiangsu with 35 points and 12 rebounds in their 112-98 win over Fujian, for whom Tyrone Washington netted 25 points and eight rebounds.

In the North Division, meanwhile, Jilin closed in on unbeaten leaders Beijing with a fourth-quarter recovery against struggling Liaoning.

Yang Ming's remarkable 41 points looked like leading the division's second-bottom side to victory, but the hosts outscored their opponents 31-23 in the final quarter to run out 111-106 winners.

Xinjiang blew to chance to keep pace with Jilin after going down 103-96 at Shanxi.

Trey Moore was the star of the show, running in 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Lorenzo Coleman and Xu Guochong netted 18 points each for the beaten visitors.

Finally, Henan stay bottom, with only one win all season, after going down 100-82 at Shandong.
