CHELSEA FC: Champions League: Barcelona was the only possibility

/noticias.info/ Chief executive Peter Kenyon has revealed that it must have been fate which brought Chelsea and Barcelona together for the second year running in the first knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League.

“In the rehearsal we got Barcelona as well,” he said. “I didn't think lightning could strike twice!”

He insisted that despite the controversies surrounding last year’s tie, all is well between the clubs. “We have a good relationship,” he said.

“It is a big game, there were two fantastic games last year and at this stage in the competition you are going to get a big team and they are as hot in Spain as us in the UK.”

Like last year, Barcelona’s attacking flair coming into the tie was the best in Europe, and at this stage of the campaign little has changed.

“We have got one of the best defences in Europe, so we are well equipped for that. With the talent on the pitch, it is going to be tremendous football and everybody is looking forward to it.

“It is what the Champions League is about, getting the best teams together.” notas_de_prensa_archivo
