EVERTON: MEDIA VIEW - SIMON ROSS

/noticias.info/ By: Scott McLeod

Radio City's Simon Ross has been the man with the microphone on Goodison matchdays this season.

The host of the station's late morning show, the experienced DJ fulfilled a similar role during his days working with City's sister station in Leeds.

But he has found the Everton faithful means working at Goodison edges it over Elland Road.

He told evertonfc.com: "I was at Leeds when they were still in the Premier League so the crowds were always big. But here at Everton there is a little banter from the supporters - the crowd is phenomenal.

"They give great backing to the team - there is always a great deal of support for the players when I am reading out the teams or making substitution announcements. They get behind the team and it is good to see.

"I do enjoy working at Everton. The operation is very tight on a matchday, with the on-pitch activities tending to be focused to half-time with things like the Hit The Bar competition."

It was something of a baptism of fire for Simon when he began working at Goodison at the start of the season though.

He explains: "With the friendly against Udinese and then the Champions League game it did present me with some problems in terms of the opposition players. When you have instances like that you have to spend a lot of time before the game making sure you have the right pronunciation and I tend to write out the names phonetically."

The Premiership games have provided less of an obstacle, although the result on Wednesday did leave many Evertonians tongue-tied.

Ross expects to see the Blues responding in the perfect manner to the defeat to West Ham when Bolton arrive at Goodison on Saturday.

He added: "It will be a tough match. But as the lads showed after the defeat to West Brom, they can bounce back well. They have produced some good results since that game, beating the likes of Newcastle and Blackburn as well as drawing at Manchester United.

"Bolton will not be an easy game but I expect the players to respond in the same way once again." notas_de_prensa_archivo
