UNITED: Wes Brown: Wigan rout has raised our stock

Wes: Wigan Goal Feast Will Spur Us On

/noticias.info/ Wes Brown believes United's resounding 4-0 win over Wigan can galvanise the team's title aspirations and spark a winning run of form.

The victory was the Reds' biggest of the season and was just the boost they needed following their European exit and a disappointing draw with Everton last weekend.

"A 4-0 win at home was just what we needed after a few bad results," Wes told ManUtd.com during a special visit to Pendlebury Children's Hospital in Greater Manchester to deliver Christmas presents.

"It was a fantastic result for us and the more goals we can score at home the more confidence we'll gain as a team.

"Hopefully we can take that confidence into the next few games because we need to win every one of them and score as many goals as we can.

"It's up to Chelsea to mess things up but it could still happen. We need to try and push them as much as we can and put even more pressure on them."

Injuries to his Achilles and thigh earlier in the season meant Wes made only his ninth start of the campaign alongside Rio Ferdinand against Wigan.

The 26-year-old defender is determined to stake his claim for a regular starting berth and has not given up hope on representing his country at next summer's World Cup finals in Germany.

"The only chance of that happening is if I'm playing week in, week out," he admits. "There's a long way to go until then but the more games I can play up to that point, the better chance I've got.

"At the moment I'd say I won't be going but if I can keep playing more matches and play well at the same time then you never know."
