Domodedovo International Airport Launches New Intermodal Project “From the Centre of Moscow to the City of Perm in Three and a Half Hours”

/noticias.info/ Domodedovo International Airport in cooperation with Perm Airlines have launched a new joint intermodal project “From the Centre of Moscow to the City of Perm in 3 hours and 30 minutes” from 16 January 2006.

The project’s objective is to save time spent by an air passenger during his travel from the centre of Moscow to the destinations of flights from Domodedovo Airport. This route has become the third one within the framework of intermodal transportations technology. The two other successful and efficient projects are “From Moscow to St. Petersburg in 2 hours 20 minutes” and “Samara Air Express -” (travel time from the centre of Moscow to the city of Samara is 199 minutes).

The rapid transportation system that links Domodedovo Airport with the centre of Moscow provides air passengers with an opportunity to check-in for a flight at the terminal at the Paveletsky Railway Station and get to the airport in 40 minutes onboard a comfortable and modern Aeroexpress train.

Passengers of this flight are entitled to a free check-in at Paveletsky Station and transfer to the airport. Check-in procedure is standard and could be performed at any check-in counter. The check-in at a special check-in counter is open 1 hour and 10 minutes prior to the departure of Aeroexpress train to the airport and is over 10 minutes prior to the departure of the train.

Unlike check-in for a regular flight that is over three hours prior to the departure of the plane, check-in of passengers for this flight at Paveletsky Railway Station lasts longer and is over 1 hour and 35 minutes prior to the departure of the plane.

Upon arrival to Domodedovo International Airport after having presented their boarding cards with a stamp “Air Rail Service” to an agent, passengers can jump the queue to get to the exit to the boarding through a special control area for business class passengers. All control checks and boarding take 40 minutes. Flight time to Perm (Bolshoe Savino) is 1 hour 50 minutes (110 minutes).

Consequently, due to this accelerated scheme of servicing passengers and baggage handling as well as optimal connections of flights with the train time-table, time of travel between the regions is cut significantly.

The interaction of the airport’s services with the departments of airlines that perform flights through Domodedovo Airport contributes to the progress of the programme “International Transportaions”, which will turn Domodedovo International Airport into a modern European air transportation hub in the near future.

The rapid transportation system that links the centre of Moscow with Domodedovo International Airport has been in operation for more than three years since August 2002. The implementation of a joint project of OJSC “Russian Railways” and EAST LINE Group, an operator of the Airport, for the first time in Russia lets incorporate air and rail transportations in a single transport and technological process, that allows passengers to significantly save time in travel.
