GULF AIR INTRODUCES NEW BAHRAINI SECURITY STAFF
/noticias.info/ Sixteen Bahrainis have joined the Gulf Air security operations in Bahrain. The new recruits have been deployed at various locations after a rigorous training programme with the airline.
Working in shifts, the security staff will be patrolling the cabin crew residential localities in Manama and the Bahrain International Airport. Their responsibilities include keeping vigilance in the excess baggage and other sensitive areas and, checking aircrafts.
"Aviation security is quite a sensitive job, which involves protection, fraud prevention, vigilance and surveillance. We are glad we were able to identify and recruit quality local talents for such a demanding job," says Gulf Air Head of Security Rinus Moerdijk.
"We received more than 150 applications in response to our advertisement and selected 16 candidates based on their background, previous work experience, physical fitness and general alertness.”
In addition to performing their standard security duties, the staff need to comply with the international law as applicable to the aviation industry.
"Most of the candidates have previous experience in security and defence-related establishments. However, all of them had to undergo Gulf Air's in-house training on the specific security requirements of the aviation industry before getting into action," says Moerdijk.
The 120-strong security department will soon be recruiting another 20 Bahraini security staff to take care of the upcoming simulator facility and other security requirements.
The department will also be acquiring additional security gadgets such as walkie-talkies and security cameras to beef up its security operations at its Muharraq headquarters and outstations.
