Rome’s bus campaign which started in early December and will continue to run until the 31st March 2006 was intended to increase sales during the New Year and the forthcoming Easter booking periods and aims to promote Malta on the streets the capital. In Milan a metro campaign ran last November while a bus campaign is currently running in Catania. Another campaign ran in the Rome metro stations between the 2nd and 15th November.

Recently it was also announced that Air Malta reached a commercial agreement with Serie A Messina FC football club whereby the airline is flying the team players and officials throughout Italy when they play ‘away’ matches. This agreement also sees Air Malta’s logo prominently placed on all the club’s football kits giving the airline wide coverage on the national Italian TV channels.

These new campaigns and agreements form part of Air Malta’s corporate marketing strategy aimed at increasing promotional efforts in Italy following the recent announcement that the airline is entering the Italian domestic airline market with Rome – Reggio – Rome flights as from next summer. This service will be added to Air Malta’s current Catania - London (Gatwick) operation launched in May 2004 which was welcomed and proved very popular with both the Sicilian and British communities.
