MLB: ROCKIES: Todd Helton has minor surgery on right elbow
/noticias.info/ DENVER -- Colorado Rockies first baseman Todd Helton had successful arthroscopic surgery to remove a loose body in his right elbow today. The operation corrected an injury Helton sustained while working out last week at Coors Field. He is expected to be fully ready for spring training in Tucson, Arizona.
The procedure was performed by Dr. Thomas Noonan, the Rockies' Medical Director, at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Greenwood Village, Colorado.
"This was a minor procedure that we expect will sideline Todd for a couple of weeks," said Rockies Executive Vice President and General Manager Dan O'Dowd. "We anticipate him being completely recovered for the start of spring training."
Helton, 32, batted .320 with 20 home runs and 79 RBI in 144 games last season. He is the Rockies' all-time leader in most offensive categories and has the highest batting average among all active major league players at .337 (based on 3,000 plate appearances). Beginning July 1 of last year, Helton batted .383 over the season's final three months, the highest average among all major league players in that span. notas_de_prensa_archivo
