MLB: ASTROS: Berkman to undergo minor knee surgery
Procedure will clean up scar tissue
/noticias.info/ HOUSTON -- The Houston Astros announced today that outfielder Lance Berkman will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Thursday, January 26. The procedure will clean up minor scar tissue that has developed as a result of his knee surgery in November of 2004. The announcement was made by General Manager Tim Purpura.
The surgery will be performed by Team Medical Director Dr. David Lintner at The Methodist Hospital. Berkman should be ready for Spring Training, as the estimated recovery time is four-to-six weeks.
Berkman, who turns 30 on February 10, hit .293 (137x468) with 24 home runs and 82 RBI in 132 games for the Astros in 2005. In 907 career big league games, he has hit .302 (951x3151) with 180 home runs and 617 RBI. During the 2005 postseason, Berkman hit .333 (16x48) with two home runs and 14 RBI in 14 games. notas_de_prensa_archivo
