MLB: Rays sign LHP Casey Fossum

/noticias.info/ St. Petersburg, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Devil Rays have agreed to terms with left-handed pitcher Casey Fossum on a two-year major league contract through 2007 plus a club option for 2008, it was announced today by Rays Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman. Fossum was arbitration eligible.

Fossum, 28, went 8-12 with a 4.92 ERA in 36 games (25 starts) last season for the Devil Rays. He began the season in the bullpen, moved into the rotation in mid-May, and wound up with career highs in victories, innings pitched (162.2), and strikeouts (128).

Casey and wife, Kim, will also donate a minimum of $125,000 to the Rays charitable foundation over the life of the contract. notas_de_prensa_archivo
