MLB: Braves, MasterCard introduce PayPass

Turner Field to accept payment cards at almost every concession for the first time ever

/noticias.info/ The Atlanta Braves and MasterCard® will make a trip to the concession stands easier this season as all concession and most portable stands at Turner Field will accept payment cards for the first time ever. Additionally, Turner Field concessions will accept contactless credit card transactions and fans with a MasterCard PayPass-enabled card or device can just "Tap & Go when making a purchase under $25 at concession stands.

"We are always striving to improve our fans experience," said Mike Plant, Atlanta Braves Executive Vice President of Business Operations. "The convenience of allowing payment cards, especially those with PayPass technology, will help improve the timing of fans going to the concession stands, so they can enjoy more time in their seats watching the game."

MasterCard PayPass is a new "contactless" payment feature that provides consumers with a fast and convenient alternative to cash for their everyday small purchases. PayPass cards and devices feature an embedded radio frequency chip and antenna that quickly and securely transmits payment details wirelessly between the PayPass device and the merchant's terminal. The transaction is then processed through the MasterCard network in the normal manner for clearing and settlement. PayPass-enabled cards, like other traditional cards, also include magnetic stripe technology, so cardholders can use the cards anywhere MasterCard is accepted around the world.

"The benefits and functionality of MasterCard PayPass are ideally suited for stadium settings," said Art Kranzley, Executive Vice President, Advanced Payments, MasterCard International. "PayPass is a perfect way for sports teams to enhance the fan experience by allowing fans to quickly make their purchases."

Fans can apply for an Atlanta Braves MBNA MasterCard at several locations throughout Turner Field or online at www.mastercard.com.
