The NFL Europe League rolled through Week 4 this weekend, and it saw the Rhein Fire and Amsterdam Admirals begin to separate themselves from the rest of the pack in the race to World Bowl XIV.
The Fire moved to 4-0 by rallying from a 21-14 fourth-quarter deficit to turn back the winless Hamburg Sea Devils 31-21. Meanwhile, the Admirals took their third game in succession by defeating the Berlin Thunder 38-31, thanks in large part to a three-touchdown run in the second and third quarters.
The Frankfurt Galaxy stayed a game behind the Admirals by defeating the Cologne Centurions 21-14.
Here's how the Broncos' quintet of allocated players fared in this weekend's action:
TE Wesley Duke, Hamburg Sea Devils -- Duke grabbed two passes for 15 yards as the Sea Devils fell for a third time this season. Duke grabbed a 10-yard pass from James Killian three minutes into the second quarter to give Hamburg a first down. He also snagged a 5-yard, first-and-10 pass from Killian with 5:24 remaining in the quarter. Duke was the intended receiver on two other passes, one of which was intercepted.
C Rob Hunt, Rhein Fire -- Hunt came off the bench for the fourth straight week and played substantially in the second half as the Fire defeated the Sea Devils 31-21.
DL Patrice Majondo Mwamba, Amsterdam Admirals -- Majondo-Mwamba did not start, but came off the bench to record a pair of assists as the Admirals defeated Berlin 31-21. Majondo-Mwamba assisted on two tackles of Berlin running back Marty Johnson, holding him to gains of 1 and 4 yards.
OL Erik Pears, Cologne Centurions -- The former Colorado State standout started for a fourth consecutive week at right guard as the Centurions fell to 1-3 in a 21-14 loss to the Galaxy. He was whistled for a holding penalty with 47 seconds remaining in the second quarter.
CB Antwaun Rogers, Berlin Thunder -- Rogers started at left cornerback for the Thunder and notched three tackles and one assist. His assist came with 3:56 left in the first quarter when he and linebacker Kevin Harrison stopped Larry Croom for 6 yards on a third-and-9 play. He made two tackles in the second quarter and another one in the fourth. His first solo tackle came early in the second quarter when he chased Croom down from behind to stop a 50-yard run. notas_de_prensa_archivo
