SOUTHERN AFRICA TOUR: Origins Series receives major cash boost
/noticias.info/ Sunshine Tour pros have been given a huge cash incentive on the eve of the Vodacom Origins of Golf Tour series, which kicks off on Wednesday, 19 April at the breathtaking Arabella Country Club near Hermanus.
The country's leading cellular network announced the new Vodacom Swing, which will reward the best performer at the end of the six-tournament series, as well as a seventh event on the summer circuit scheduled for November.
In addition to the total prize money of R2,160,000 on offer for the six-event series (R360,000 per tournament), the top 25 professionals will be awarded points in each event, starting at 60 points to the winner down to 25th place, which qualifies for two points.
Professionals must compete in at least five of the seven events to be eligible for cash incentive prize of R100 000 and, at the conclusion of the series and final event in November, the leading points scorer will be declared the winner.
The Vodacom Origins of Golf Tour series comprises 54-hole Pro-Ams showcasing Vodacom’s sponsorship in the region including other major sport sponsorship properties, Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, Bloemfontein Celtics, Blue Bulls, Free State Cheetahs, Power Tour, Boxing, Durban July, Tri-Nations and the Super 14.
It is also aimed at paying tribute to the legends of the game and this year, Gary Player - winner of nine Majors and nine Champions Tour Majors - is being honoured as the Origins of Golf Tour again travels to some of the top courses in the country over the next few months.
