MLB: Orioles recall Majewski, place Newhan on DL

/noticias.info/ The Orioles today announced that they have recalled OF Val Majewski from AAA Ottawa in place of OF David Newhan, who has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right fibula.

Newhan suffered the injury while stealing second base in Monday's game vs. the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He will undergo surgery on Thursday at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore before a full diagnosis is made.

Newhan was batting .265 with 2 home runs and 7 RBI in 10 games for the Orioles. He had started 8 of the Orioles' last 9 games.

Majewski (pronounced my-YES-key), was batting .138 (4-29) with 3 doubles, a home run and 2 RBI in 9 games for Ottawa, after starting the season 1-for-17. He batted .200 (6-30) in spring training with the Orioles this year. Majewski appeared in 9 games for the Orioles in 2004 but missed all of last season after undergoing surgery on his left shoulder in March. notas_de_prensa_archivo
