MLB: BLUE JAYS: Olympian Klassen to throw out first pitch
/noticias.info/ The TORONTO BLUE JAYS are pleased to welcome CINDY KLASSEN to ROGERS CENTRE on Wednesday, April 19. KLASSEN will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before that afternoon's game between the BLUE JAYS and the visiting New York Yankees (12:37 pm).
Blue Jays President & CEO Paul Godfrey says, "The BLUE JAYS watched and cheered with the rest of Canada, as CINDY KLASSEN shone at both the most recent Olympics and World Championships. She couples together the highest level of performance on the ice, with grace, dignity and sportsmanship away from the speed skating oval. The Blue Jays organization is honoured and privileged to have her throw out the first pitch on Wednesday afternoon."
A six-time Olympic medallist in speed skating, KLASSEN stands as Canada's most decorated Olympian. At the most recent Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy she won gold in the 1500M, silver in the 1000M and Team Pursuit and bronze in the 5000M and 3000M. She also won bronze in the 3000M at the 2002 Winter Olympics. KLASSEN is also a four-time World Champion.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the 26-year-old now lives and trains in Calgary, Alberta. In recent events held in Calgary, KLASSEN established World Records in both the 1000M (1:13:11) and 3000M (3:53:34). notas_de_prensa_archivo
