NASCAR: PENSKE RACING: Hornish 2nd, Castroneves 4th in qualifying at Kansas Speedway

/noticias.info/ Sam Hornish Jr. qualified on the outside of the front row and Helio Castroneves on the outside of the second Saturday for the Kansas Lottery Indy 300 at Kansas Speedway.

Hornish averaged 213.372 mph (25.6453 seconds) on the medium-banked 1.5-mile oval in the No. 6 Dallara/Honda/Firestone.

"We're pretty happy to be on the front row," Hornish said. "We'll probably change some things around for the race. The big thing for us tomorrow is having good pit stops and making sure we have a good handling car in traffic."

Castroneves ran 212.472, 25.7540 in the No. 3 Dallara/Honda/Firestone.

"I was very happy with our qualifying run," Castroneves said. "The Marlboro Team Penske car was a little faster than I expected. We feel comfortable with the race car and I'm really looking forward to the race. We'll just have to play it smart and, hopefully, we'll be able to get our first victory here at Kansas."

Hornish had the fourth fastest lap in practice and in the second session at 212.578, 25.7412. He was second fastest in the first session at 212.441, 25.7577. Hornish completed 45 laps in the first session and 44 in the second.

Castroneves was sixth in practice and in the second session at 212.216, 25.7850. He was eighth in the first session at 211.272, 25.9003. Castroneves completed 44 laps in the first session and 37 in the second.

Sunday's 200-lap, 300-mile race, the eighth of the IRL IndyCar season, begins at 1 p.m. EDT and will be televised by ABC.
