NASCAR: DALE EARNHARDT: What makes The Brickyard so special?
/noticias.info/ INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Can you believe this will be the 13th anniversary of the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series stars racing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway?
It seems like yesterday when Dale Earnhardt was the first NASCAR driver to cross the Yard of Bricks during the initial tire-test session. Soon after, NASCAR's Bill France and IMS's Tony George announced a deal to bring NASCAR to the hallowed 2.5-mile track of Indy beginning in 1994.
Up until then, the only cars that ever raced the quad oval were Indy Cars. Fittingly, one of NASCAR’s greats won the prestigious race when Dale Earnhardt took home the trophy in 1995.
Now, the Brickyard 400 has become the second-highest purse on the NASCAR circuit. Second only to the Daytona 500 for single-race winning, the hype factor that goes into this weekend’s race is almost on the same level.
However, there isn’t a month of testing leading up to this race like there is for the Daytona 500. But, there is a very intense three-day session here that brings out journalists and the media to provide coverage.
During that pre-race test session, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and the No. 8 Budweiser team posted the fastest times of all competitors. And, after coming off two consecutive 43rd place finishes, the No. 8 Chevrolet team can’t help but look forward to this race.
So, here are the two questions we we wanted to pose to our race fans and readers of this site -
What is about Indy that makes it so special for NASCAR teams/fans to race here? And, does it deserve the prestigious coverage/stance it receives?
You can send your response to Editor@DaleEarnhardtInc.com and we’ll post some of the selected answers later this week. We’ll need your name and hometown along with your response. It doesn’t have to be very long, just a quick answer to the questions (one or both) to see how you feel about NASCAR racing at The Brickyard.
NOTE: Be sure to vote on the Weekly Poll in the Fan Zone; which relates to these questions. notas_de_prensa_archivo
