UNDER 17 CHAMPIONSHIP: Hungary joined by Scotland

/noticias.info/ A last-gasp goal gave Hungary first place in UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifying round Group 10 ahead of Scotland, but both teams progressed into the Elite round.

Scotland hold on
Scotland kicked off the mini-tournament in Yerevan's Republican Stadium against hosts Armenia in front of 3,000 fans. Although the visitors had several players suffering from a stomach bug and struggled to cope in 35C heat, they secured a 0-0 draw. Bulgaria then met 2006 qualifiers Hungary at the Hrazdan Stadium and took a ninth minute lead through Boyan Tabakov. However, in the 65th minute Hungary brought on György Nikischer and within two minutes he had equalised. András Simon gave Hungary the lead within 60 seconds and four minutes later Tamas Tovizic secured a 3-1 win.

Hungary on top
Bulgaria now needed a good result at the Hrazsan Stadium against Scotland. However, Scotland were in better shape than two days previously and deservedly secured victory with a 28th-minute Sean Kerr goal. Over at the Republican Stadium, Hungary now knew three points would take them through and thanks to András Simon's 33rd-minute striker duly prevailed against Armenia. So now Scotland needed a draw against Hungary in their Hrazsan encounter and went ahead through Kenny Waugh. Hungary equalised in added time to secure first place, but Scotland will also be in December's Elite round draw. notas_de_prensa_archivo
