Defender Lino Marzoratti (on loan from Milan), Niccola Pozzi, Mirco Gasparetto, Richard Vanigli and Luca Saudati all spent time in the Rossoneri youth sector and now are playing for Empoli.

Luigi Cagni arrived to head up Empoli in 2005 with the league already in course and this year he has brought the Tuscan side to a comfortable spot in the table. Empoli spent a busy summer on the transfer market, but lost an important player when Francesco Tavano went to Valencia.
