INTER: BRANCA: "A WINNING MENTALITY"
PARMA - Inter's technical director Marco Branca analysed the Nerazzurri's Parma performance in a post-match interview with Rai programme Domenica Sportiva:
/noticias.info/ A more difficult match than you imagined?
"Parma played very well, but so did we. Parma kept a high tempo for the whole game, creating problems for us. We did well to reply with the same weapons as Parma. We settled into the match with great humility and did well to prevail."
Were the Nerazzurri too nervous? We saw that Ibrahimovic was reckless on the pitch and there were a few arguments too many between Grosso and Materazzi.
"There's no tension. Between Materazzi and Grosso it was just a matter of tactical explanations."
Is this Roma to be feared?
"Roma are proving to be an excellent side with a well-tested game, and they showed that again yesterday against Milan."
As a great ex-striker, what is Marco Branca's opinion of another great performance by the Inter attack?
"We certainly have some great strikers in our squad. And let's not forget that there's someone who still has to reach top condition and another, Recoba, who has sustained an injury. However, they are all high-level strikers."
Is Adriano likely to play part of next Sunday's match against Reggina?
"These are evaluations we will make with the coach in the week and we can only decide towards the end of the week. It's too soon to say now."
Referee Saccani gave a lacklustre performance. He ignored a few clear fouls in the area. In particular, Ibrahimovic alternated some classy moves with a few illegal blows.
"I think Ibrahimovic is often provoked, but in all the other instances I don't think there was any intent to harm the opponent, but just an attempt to get in position. You sometimes take a few blows too many when you're playing in such hard-fought matches. The main thing is that there's no intention to hurt your opponent, by using your elbows for example. I didn't see any nastiness, just competitive spirit."
They're saying this is the best Inter seen in recent years. You have been at Inter for over three years. What do you think?
"We don't have to be entertaining; we have to be successful. We're only two months into the season. We're trying to construct a mentality that can take us far. Tonight is further proof. We have to continue like this: be entertaining sometimes, but preferably successful." notas_de_prensa_archivo
