Norwich City Youth 0 Chelsea Youth 1

/noticias.info/ Chelsea Youth got back to winning ways on Saturday morning after two defeats and now have 10 wins from 12 games this season. Defender Sam Hutchinson (pictured), 17, scored his first goal of the season and just his second in a Chelsea shirt.

Youth manager Ruud Kaiser was delighted with the discipline of his team which had travelled to Norfolk on Friday afternoon.

‘It was very important for us after two losses to get back to the basics. We had to organise the defence very well, because we know we have good attackers and if we defend well we can score.

‘We didn’t give one chance away in the first-half! Until the last 10 minutes I think 75 per cent of the time we had the ball.

‘We didn’t make a lot of chances because they had 10 men behind the ball all the time. But in transition we were great, when we lost it we fought to get it back.’

The goal came four minutes before half-time. ‘It was a great goal,’ Ruud enthused. ‘We must have had 10 corners in the first-half, and from this one out of it the ball came to Sam Hutchinson and he turned and put in a great shot. We deserved that 1-0.’

It could have been more in the second-half. ‘Lee Sawyer had a big hit from 20 yards that brought a great save from the goalkeeper. James Simmonds had a nice header over the goalkeeper which flicked off the post.

‘But they really crowded their box and we didn’t always make the right decisions with the final ball.

‘Then in the last 10 minutes, they had the wind with them and put on some pressure. But their only shot at goal all game came straight from a corner which curled in with the wind, and James Simmonds on the goal-line had to save, head the ball away. But we have two players on the posts and expect them to be there for this.’

He was delighted with the spirit of his side. ‘I give the whole team a big compliment. They worked as a team, when someone made a mistake everyone worked to get the ball back. All the boys did well. They were all fighting for a result.

‘They played really good football for 80 minutes and then worked hard defensively.’

He used no substitutes. Sawyer and Hutchinson were booked. Midfielders Tejera and Fernandes are injured.

Team (4-3-3) Hamann; Ofori-Twumasi, Worley, Hutchinson, Elmer; Sawyer, Bridcutt (c), Simmonds; Stoch, Cummings, Sinclair.
