GOLF: ASIAN TOUR: YANG RISES INTO TOP-40 ON WORLD RANKING
/noticias.info/ November 14: Yang Yong-eun of Korea broke into the top-40 on the Official World Golf Ranking after a superb showing at the star-studded HSBC Champions last week.
Yang enjoyed the biggest win of his career at Sheshan International Golf Club in China as he is now ranked 38th in the world. He finished two strokes ahead of world number one Tiger Woods who claimed the runner-up spot. Yang has been in winning form this year as witnessed on the Asian Tour where he won the Kolon Hana Bank Korean Open. Yang went on to win in Japan at the Suntory Open in September.
With the win in China, Yang has closed in on compatriot Choi-Kyung-ju. Choi, who won his fourth US PGA Tour title at the Chrysler Championship last month, was ranked 27th.
Indian star Jeev Milkha Singh, who won the Volvo Masters in Spain, has been making a steady rise on the world ranking as he is now 70th. Singh, who won the Volvo China Open in April, will be eager to be on top of his game at the UBS Hong Kong Open this week. The Indian is determined to make the top-50 to earn a spot for the US Masters next April, which is the year’s first major.
Korea’s Hur Suk-ho was ranked 82nd while India’s Jyoti Randhawa, who lifted the Hero Honda Indian Open title in October, was in 89th spot.
Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee was in 106th and a spot below is Australian youngster Andrew Buckle who enjoyed his maiden Nationwide Tour victory at the Virginia Beach Open in May.
In 158th position is China’s Liang Wen-chong while Thailand’s Prayad Marsaeng was in 160th. The other players include Thaworn Wiratchant of Thailand in 166th, Chinese Taipei’s Wang Ter-chang (180th), India’s Shiv Kapur (184th). notas_de_prensa_archivo
