EU: Commissioner for Human Rights to visit Slovenia
/noticias.info/ Strasbourg, 14.11.2006 - Commissioner Thomas Hammarberg will visit Ljubljana for talks with the Slovenian government on 15-16 November. He will meet Dragutin Mate, the Minister of the Interior, Milan Zver, the Minister for Education and Sport, Janez Podobnik, the Minister for Environment and Spatial Planning, as well as Ombudsman Matjaz Hanzek and a group of leading NGOs.
The discussions will focus on the government's Roma integration policies and the recent evacuation of a 31-member Roma community from Ambrus to a temporary shelter in Postojna, which followed a conflict situation between the local majority population and the Roma community. The Commissioner will also visit the temporary accommodation facility where the Roma families are currently housed.
The Commissioner will speak to the press at a press conference scheduled for 9.00 on Thursday, November 16th at the Council of Europe Information Office (address: Rimska cesta 16, Ljubljana 1000). The press conference will be in English.
