NFL: COLTS: READY FOR PRIME TIME

Colts-Eagles Game Moved to Sunday Night

/noticias.info/ By John Oehser - Colts.com

INDIANAPOLIS – On Monday, the Colts got flexed.

And that means the Colts will have yet another appearance on prime-time television this season.

On Monday, the NFL announced that the start time for the Colts’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles in the RCA Dome on Sunday, November 26 – originally scheduled to start at 1 p.m. – has been moved as part of the league’s new “flex scheduling” arrangement.

The Colts-Eagles game now will be an 8:15 p.m. start and will be broadcast on NBC’s Sunday Night Football package.

“It’s much better being at home, that’s for sure,” Colts Head Coach Tony Dungy said Monday as the AFC South-leading Colts (9-0) prepared to play the Dallas Cowboys (5-4) at Texas Stadium Sunday at 4:15 p.m.

“The night games on the road are tougher on you, but it’s a good thing, I think – the fact that TV wants us and it’s going to be a national game.

“I think we’ll be ready for it and I think our players will embrace it.”

The move to Sunday night gives the Colts a fourth
prime-time appearance this season. They beat the New York Giants on Sunday night in the season opener on September 10, then beat the New England Patriots on Sunday night on November 5.

The Colts also play host to the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football on December 18.

The NFL this season is implementing for the first time a “flexible scheduling” element on Sundays in Weeks 10-15 and Week 17.

The idea is to ensure quality match-ups in all NFL Sunday time slots in those weeks, as well as to give teams a chance to play their way onto prime-time and late-afternoon slots on CBS and FOX.

For each of the flex scheduling weeks – with the exception of Week 17 – the NFL will announce the start times of games no later than 12 days prior to that weekend. To ensure a Sunday night game and double-header games with playoff implications in Week 17, the flexible scheduling decision for that Sunday may be made on six days notice.
