Council of Europe teams up with international organisations to discuss the protection of human rights in the fight against terrorism

/noticias.info/ Strasbourg, 15.11.2006 - The Council of Europe will participate in the Technical workshop on Human Rights and International Cooperation in Counter-Terrorism which the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights are organising together with the Government of Liechtenstein in Vaduz, 15 - 17 November 2006.

This Workshop will focus on the practical and legal aspects of human rights issues which arise from international co-operation to combat terrorism, namely with regard to the transfer of persons and information.

The Council of Europe will contribute its experience to a practical exploration of the issues around and extent of application of the principle of non-refoulement in international co-operation.
