JUVENTUS: Blanc: meeting with the FIGC
/noticias.info/ Following the end of the first meeting held in Rome at the Federcalcio offices between FIGC and Lega chiefs on the one side, and Juventus and the Turin city council (responsible for the infrastructure of the Euro 2012 candidate city) on the other, Jean-Claude Blanc spoke to ANSA on a number of topics. Those relating to the stadium project and the Ballon D’Or are printed below:
STADIO DELLE ALPI: “As the government has agreed to give financial support to the candidature, we will re-evaluate the summertime project. We want to plan for the next 30 years of Juventus, weighing up financial capabilities after the serious damage of Serie B, with the development of the Delle Alpi. We will re-evaluate the project, compromising with that of Giraudo, as we are ambitious and we would like to contribute to the success of Italy’s Euro 2012 bid with both the stadium model and the management model” . On the relevant economic aspect: “In the ‘80s and ‘90s the English clubs invested 50% of their revenue from TV rights in new stadiums, while in Italy and France clubs spent 100% of it on players. We need to follow their example. With the one comes the other and we’ve drawn up a five year plan; we need to evaluate the situation, investing in infrastructure and not just players. We need to do this with humility, bringing players and fans closer together; the latter are part of our history and we must bring the families back to the stadium”.
BALLON D’OR: “The Ballon D’Or to Cannavaro? If that really is the case then it’s also an award for Juventus. I’m backing Gigi Buffon, but Cannavaro would also be a very worthy winner. Who deserves it most? I say this as a Frenchman, Italy deserved it. Cannavaro is still in the hearts of the Bianconeri, and our history: my heart is for Gigi, but in either case it’s a recognition of Italy’s World Cup triumph”. notas_de_prensa_archivo
