UEFA: Women's coaches gather
/noticias.info/ The 2nd UEFA Elite Women's Coaches Forum takes place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on Wednesday, with 24 leading trainers from European national team and club football participating in a round table event led by UEFA technical director Andy Roxburgh.
Topics
Among the topics for discussion in the three-hour meeting will be the current status of, and possible improvements to, UEFA women's competitions, as well as issues around player development and coaching development. At the first forum, which was held in December 2001 after that year's UEFA European Women's Championship, coaches advocated the introduction of an Under-17 national team tournament, which will now begin next season. Since then, the club-based UEFA Women's Cup has gone from strength to strength, and England have staged a successful UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2005™ which broke attendance records.
'Exchanging ideas'
England coach Hope Powell, one of a number of coaches who will be returning having attended the first forum, told uefa.com: "I think it's quite nice to be among like-minded people with the same role, and to exchange ideas and share things. The whole of women's football continues to develop and we want Europe to be strong and be dominant in the world. I will see what people are doing in their associations and learn as much as I can. It is probably the same for the others. To have a forum with people doing the same job as you, it's great to be included in that and to exchange ideas. Even to come together away from the football pitch, that's nice."
In attendance
Those attending the event will be: Silvia Neid (Germany), Tina Theune-Meyer (Germany), Thomas Dennerby (Sweden), Marika Domanski-Lyfors (Sweden), Bjarne Berntsen (Norway), Kenneth Heiner-Møller (Denmark), Peter Bonde (Denmark), Hope Powell (England), Elisabeth Loisel (France), Yury Bystritskiy (Russia), Pietro Ghedin (Italy), Carolina Morace (Italy), Dušan Žovinec (Czech Republic), Michael Käld (Finland), Bernd Schröder (1.
