FOOTBALL EUROPE: Stars share Greek player award
/noticias.info/ AEK Athens FC forward Nikolaos Liberopoulos and Olympiacos CFP's defensive midfielder Ieroklis Stoltidis have been jointly awarded the Greek Player of the Season prize for 2005/06.
Level pegging
The 31-year-old Liberopoulos and Stoltidis, also 31, finished level in the poll organised by Greece's professional footballers' association and shared the accolade, with Panathinaikos FC striker Dimitrios Salpingidis taking third place. Liberopoulos scored 14 goals in 27 league games for Super League runners-up AEK last term, while Stoltidis contributed to Olympiacos's championship triumph with five goals in 27 appearances.
Best of the rest
Olympiacos's Brazilian veteran Rivaldo was named best foreign player while AEK's 21-year-old midfielder Panagiotis Lagos, then of Iraklis FC, was selected as the season's best young player.
